Goodbye for now...

The TV Oracle is taking an extended hiatus to regroup. Thanks to all of you for your support and loyalty over our six month ride. It was a great one.

Thanks again,

TV Oracle Podcast #20: Lovin' Summer

With today's opening of Mission: Impossible III, the summer movie season is officially kicked into high gear. Tune in to the TV Oracle to find out our most anticipated summer films by month. Also, we toss in some other films that strike a DVD-level interest within us, and, finally, we present our "must to avoid" films for each month (one of which we'll probably end up seeing for its utter badness/hilarity).

Be sure to queue up the camp classic Midnight Madness, a favorite film from both our childhoods that we haven't seen in 20 years, for our second "Our Favorite Movies" entry. FYI - please be aware that we haven't seen this in 20 years. It may completely suck, but we've got fond memories of it anyway.

Also, somewhere in this podcast lies the secret code word that could win you one of 10 posters from HBO's hit show Big Love, airing Sunday nights at 10pm after The Sopranos. Simply email the code word to us, and you'll win! It's that easy!

Good luck!

~ Clarence

TV Oracle Podcast #19: American Idolz

This week, the Oracles delve into a discussion of truly American idols of all kinds. First, during our TV Update: Reality Edition, we discuss the most recent American Idol performances, famous love songs. Find out who we (correctly) predicted to go home. Next, the new season of Donald Trump's The Apprentice gets its due on the podcast as we proclaim "ding dong, the witch is gone." Finally, we wax poetic on the past few weeks of Survivor and the importance of Exile Island's hidden immunity idol. Plus, we just plain idolize front-runner Terry.

Next, Clarence gives his impression of the recent box office bomb, American Dreamz. While the film serves up equally vicious parodies of American Idol, the current presidency, and celeb culture in general, Clarence wonders to whom this film is targeted. Tune in to see if he thought the satire was biting enough to make it a funny film, or was it just too over the top?

Also, somewhere in this podcast lies the secret code word that could win you and your friends one of 10 posters from HBO's hit show Big Love, airing Sunday nights at 10pm after The Sopranos. Simply email the code word to us, and you'll win! It's that easy!

Good luck!

TV Oracle Podcast #18: Brokeback Geisha

The Oracle is back!

Our topics this week include a discussion of Memoirs of a Geisha and Brokeback Mountain, two new DVDs that are now available. We also give our now unofficial weekly TV Update. Listen now as this has quietly crept in as a regular segment.

Clarence, admittedly cranky, and Blake, who confesses his jetlag, get off to a great start on the topic of TV, covering American Idol, Invasion, and Bravo's Top Chef. The crankiness and weary eyes quickly disappear as they continue through the DVD segment of the show. Both seem bewildered by the question "So, what is a Geisha anyway?" Are they missing something? Please email if you know the truth! (Side note, Clarence wishes to convey that, yes, he knows he got the names of the actress in Geisha wrong. He apologizes profusely.)

Also, stay tuned for a contest sponsored by HBO's Big Love.

TV Oracle Podcast #17: The TV Oracle's Guide to Nashville

This week, the Oracles embark on the first of the monthly series "Our Favorite Movies," starting with one of Clarence's favorite movies: Robert Altman's Nashville. Having never seen the film before, Blake wanders into the chaos that is an Altman film and comes out relatively unscathed. Although, he's not sure if he ever wants to wade in again... Tune in to hear his reaction and Clarence's explanation of why he loves this film.

But before that segment, the Oracles discuss this week's American Idol, Lost, and Desperate Housewives episodes.

TV Oracle Podcast #16: Sssssssssmokin'!!!!

Blake returns to the podcast just in time for a conversation about the new tobacco industry satire Thank You For Smoking, based on the novel by Christopher Buckley. All Oracles liked the film for a few moments of huge laughs and Aaron Eckhart's charismatic performance as the central spokesman for the tobacco industry. Still, the film is not perfect. Tune in to find out which member of the film's cast is the biggest liability.

This week's TV Update segment centers around the recent lackluster episode of American Idol, the evolution of ABCs new sitcom Sons & Daughters, and the jaw-dropping recent episode of ABCs Lost, in which an important piece of the island mythology is revealed.

Don't forget to put Robert Altman's Nashville in your Netflix queue as next week begins the monthly "Our Favorite Movies" segment. Oh yeah, and, as always, if you're Chris Daughtry or Adam Brody, then please give Sara a call. She'll make you happy.

TV Oracle Podcast #15: P For Podcast

Blakeo, Blakeo. Whereforart thou, Blakeo? This week, Clarence and Sara open with a few quick notes about hot TV topics over the past week, including the bizarre Sopranos episode, an American Idol controversy, and the new season of South Park (without Isaac Hayes... sort of). The Oracles are wax poetic about one of their new favorite shows, Weeds, starring Mary-Louise Parker and Elizabeth Perkins. The show will be released soon on DVD but is currently available as a download on iTunes.

Finally, the Oracles get political with their review of V For Vendetta, a film seemingly calculated to elicit strong emotions and outrage from the audience but did neither for Clarence or Sara. Although, there is a reason why Clarence may be a bit fuzzy on the early details of the film. Find out why in this week's show, and join us next week for the return of Blake Ellavsky.
