TV Oracle Podcast #11: Prelude to the Oraclees
It is not a lesser known Greek god that you may have missed. The Oraclees (or-a-cleez) are the Oracle's first annual pop culture awards. In honor of the upcoming Oscars Awards, the Oracle has come up with some categories of our own. In this edition of the TV Oracle podcast, we release our nominations for the Oraclees. The illustrious Oraclees include five categories from our experiences with pop culture. Stay tuned this Friday for the best little awards ceremony called the Oraclees...let the fanfare begin. In this episode, Blake and Clarence also discuss The Office - US vs UK. Listen as we forget all of the UK character names and simply refer to them as The UK Michael and The UK Pam. It is truly a treat. We hope you enjoy.Next the Oracles review Hustle & Flow, a new DVD release available this month. Clarence makes the word "ho" work to the best of his abilities and Blake is speechless, literally, when put on the spot. Overall, they enjoyed the film that is not so much about a pimp and his ho's (thanks Clarence), but about a man that desperately wants to be more than he is.Finally, in accordance with TV Oracle podcast statutes, Clarence sticks to his one minute time limit and discusses the rumor that Apple is looking to buy Disney. How would Apple's reign affect Disney's far reaching media empire? Tune in for our 90 second opinions.TV Oracle Podcast #11: Prelude to the Oraclees37:12*Intro*The Office - UK vs US*Hustle & Flow*The Oraclees nominations*The Final WordHave a comment or topic suggestion you'd like to share with us? TV Oracle Podcast #10: The Constant Smokers
The Tribal drums... The frenzied chanting... It can only mean the return of Survivor. The Oracles review the first few episodes of the Panama - Exile Island experience and discuss the new reality show breakout star, Shane - a contestant who quit cold turkey from a three-pack-a-day cigarette habit. Oh, how the sparks fly!
Speaking of cigarettes, the Oracles review George Clooney's smoke-filled Good Night, and Good Luck, an Oscar nominee for Best Picture. While singing the praises of Edward R. Murrow, the Oracles wonder if this lavish praise and idolotry of Murrow shouldn't have been a documentary instead of a somewhat-padded 90 minute movie.
After a review of The Constant Gardener on DVD (which did not elicit any strong responses in either direction), Blake introduces the revamped Final Word segment. While the intent is to limit this segment to one minute, time escapes us yet again. Ah well, there's always next week...

TV Oracle Podcast #9: All You Need Is Love
In Blake's absense, the TV Oracle introduces a new member of the podcast team, Sara, who joins Clarence in a presentation of their Five (top five, according to Clarence) Films About Love in honor of Valentine's Day. Both lists are very different with Clarence cramming in more than the alloted five but only matching Sara with one film.
With this week's Final Word, Clarence takes a break from the rant and gives a Podcast Recommendation to The Entertainment Beat with Frances Gumm, a podcast that is guaranteed to be the only podcast featuring conversations between Judy Garland, Carol Channing, and Gollum.

TV Oracle Podcast #8: 93 Bachelors agree there is nothing like a Bubble when you are Sky High with Chief Oscar
Suffering from winter colds, the Oracles manage to find the energy to dive into several topics for this week's podcast. First, Blake takes the reins on the TV segment this week, discussing A&E's recent telepic Flight 93 about the hijacked airplane that the passengers downed in Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001. Blake also steps up to the plate and gives his Winter's TV Guilty Pleasure... one week late.
In the Film segment, the Oracles discuss Steven Soderbergh's groundbreaking Bubble, the first film to debut in theaters, on DVD, and on HDNet in the same week. Blake divulges that it took him a while to warm up to the non-professional actors but delivers very insightful thoughts on the film's digital cinematography. Clarence gushes about his love for the film, its startling camera work, and two of the film's leading performances. Both agree that the film is definitely worth seeing in any medium.
After a brief discussion of the Oscar nominations, Clarence revels in his fanboy love of 2005's Sky High, the best film of 2005 according to Clarence's inner 8 year old, recently available on DVD. Blake, however, comically delivers a lukewarm review of a film that he, in reality, liked a great deal.
Finally, Clarence delivers a (semi) rant-free Final Word on ABC and their treatment of the Golden Globe-winning show Commander in Chief.
